What we did

ASP Components syncs stock from MYOB Advanced into WooCommerce. When a part went onto backorder in the ERP, the website kept selling it like it was on the shelf, and the first a customer heard about the wait was after paying.

What we did

Read the flag the ERP already holds. The build reads a MYOB-synced attribute rather than inventing a second source of stock truth. When the ERP says backorder, the website says backorder, automatically.

Say it everywhere the customer looks. A badge on product pages and category listings, the backorder state carried into the cart and through checkout, so the customer knows what they are ordering before they pay.

Say it again in writing. Custom order confirmation and notification emails that state the backorder plainly, which is the difference between a customer who planned for the wait and a support ticket.

The result is fewer surprised customers and fewer phone calls asking where an order is, with stock truth still living in exactly one place.
